Commercial roof insulation

Does your commercial building have issues with being too cold in the Winter and too warm in the Summer?

If so that would point towards the buildings being either single skin cladding or just poorly insulated.

The result of having little or no insulation in the roof and walls of a commercial building is:

  • Heat loss during the Winter
  • Solar gain in the Summer both resulting in excessive costs.
  • Condensation can form on the underside of the roof causing damage to stock. It can also be the cause of health and safety problems, such as slip hazards and electrical short circuits.
  • Draughts through joints, eaves etc
  • Uncomfortable working environment for employees.
  • Cuts heat loss by at least 90%.

Air Tightness

New commercial buildings have to comply with building regulations with regard to airtightness. New buildings are air tested to ensure that cold unwanted air does not enter the building, furthermore any air generated within the building whether heated or cooled costs money and it should be retained rather than escaping into the atmosphere..

Older commercial buildings built before these new regulations were brought in, are often very draughty and inefficient. Many are of a corrugated sheet construction and they have fillers at the eaves which fall out causing large gaps for air to move freely in and out of the building. These areas are also convenient places for vermin to enter or birds to nest.

We have been insulating all types of properties for many years using Spray Foam Insulation (SFI) also known as Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF).

It is the most cost effective and thermally efficient way to insulate and air seal a commercial building

It immediately expands and bonds to any surface, and it is particularly useful in sealing corrugated sheet buildings because it follows the corrugations and leaves no gaps. This ensures that heat loss is reduced and it prevents the formation of surface condensation.

It is swift to apply, as it is a sprayed application there are no mechanical fixings or adhesives, no cutting and fitting and no wastage.
